McCain to LAT: Release That Tape
Campaigning in Ohio on Wednesday, Senator John McCain continued to call on the Los AngelesTimes to release a videotape it has in its possession on which Senator Barack Obama can be seen associating, even ‘partying,’ with known enemies of the state of Israel, and supporters of Palestianians, the PLO, and even Hamas.
According to an account of the video published at the LAT, one of the attendees read a poem about Israeli terrorism on Palestinians, while Obama sat there and praised known enemy of Israel Rashid Khalidi a former spokesman for the Palestinian Liberation Organization.
However, the LAT refuses to release the tape, even though several organizations, bloggers and many thousands of readers have called on them to do so.
Earlier reports published today, also at this website, say that some believe that Obama may have made statements that would cause him tremendous problems today. The LAT denies nor confirms the accusations, but simply refuses to release the tape.
McCain, clearly getting the impression that the tape may be devastating to Obama, or at least hoping it, has now stepped up his attacks against the L.A. based newspaper, as did his running mate Sarah Palin earlier today.
“Among other things, Israel was described there as the perpetrator of terrorism rather than the victim,” Palin said at a rally in Ohio. “What we don’t know is how Barack Obama responded to these slurs on a country that he professes to support.”
Palin said the Times should win a Pulitzer Prize for “kowtowing.”
“It must be nice for a candidate to have major news organizations looking out for their best interests like that. Politicians would love to have a pet newspaper of their very own,” she said.
“If there was a tape of John McCain in a neo-Nazi outfit, I think the treatment of the issue would be slightly different,” McCain himself said in an interview with Hispanic radio stations.
