CAPHARNAUM - Reality Only Fantasized (1997)

genuineness only fantasized is the debut album from american death metal band capharnaum. earliest let me start by saying that the info on the lineup on the album is wrong. it is said that the following musicians where the ones playing on reality barely fantasized:

Daniel Mongrain who is a CO-founding member and guitarist of the Canadian tech metal band Martyr. He also played with Cryptopsy for a short while in 2005. Matt Heafy is the levitra lead vocalist and guitarist for Trivium while guitarist Jason Suecof is the producer for Trivium. Mike Poggione ( Monstrosity) plays bass and Jordan Suecof plays drums.

This is actually the lineup who recorded the second album from Capharnaum called Fractured which was released in 2004.

The real lineup on Reality Only Fantasized is as follows: Ryan Adams - Guitar, Shawn Greenlaw - Bass, Tony Espinoza - Vocals, Jason Suecof - Guitar, Vocals, Jordan Suecof - Drums.

Matt Heafy was actually born in 1986 which would have made him eleven at the time this album was released. Personally I have never heard an eleven year old kid growling like this.

The music on the album is pretty basic death metal. There are no progressive ideas or tendencies that I can hear and tech metal fans shouldn´t expect anything of interest here either. The music is generally pretty primitive. With that said it´s an ok death metal album and I have definitely heard much worse. The lyrics are typical death metal lyrics about the darker sides of life which titles like Night Terror and Sinister Perceptions bears witness to. With a total playing time that says 25:13 this has got to be one of the shortest albums I have ever encountered. Even Slayer´s Reign in Blood which lasts for about 29 minutes and which is considered a very short album is four minutes longer. I would not pay full price for Reality Only Fantasized just out of principle. This should have been released as an EP in my opinion.

The musicianship is good and the playing is pretty tight. I like the growling style. The most exciting is the melodic guitar solos though. They are actually pretty good but seem a bit out of place on a brutal death metal album like this one. Well there are plenty of melodic soloing in death metal ( just listen to an album like Necroticism - Descanting of the Insalibrious by Carcass and your thirst will be stilled), but I didn´t expect them on this album.

The sound quality is not that good, but it´s bearable and doesn´t ruin the music.

The choice of coverart is actually pretty strange. It looks more like a power metal/ progressive metal cover than a cover for a death metal album. Sending mixed signals isn´t always a good solution in the music industry.

This is an ok death metal album but not a really good one and I can only give viagra online kaufen it 2 stars. I doubt that anyone in here will find much pleasure in this album besides a very few number of old school death metal fans. I count on Capharnaum´s second album Fractured to be a much more rewarding experience. by UMUR CAPHARNAUM Music Online: recommended progarchives.com worldwide prog rock stores
